James is an experienced Java and open source software engineer.
His main expertise relevant to this project is that he worked for
a company that developed NACAB's information management systems,
classifying the information they publish. The project was funded
by the British Library and the BLISS classification society, and
driven by the University of North London's Information Science department.
The BLISS classification system is used in many academic libraries,
including Senate House library, University of London. The software
developed in the project automated many aspects of the classifier's
work.
From 1990 to 1999 He was a Senior Research Fellow in the Department
of Computer Science, University College London, working in the distributed
systems and network management research group. Since then he has
worked as a Java software engineer, mainly on distributed systems
projects in the City.
